Maine Ballroom offers on-site individual and group instruction to students of all ages in waltz, foxtrot, tango, rumba, cha cha,  swing,  and many other dances including Country and Latin Line Dancing.  We also offers classes off site to local businesses, adult education programs, high schools, colleges and private groups.  Our instructors teach both American and International style ballroom and continue to receive training from leading professionals from throughout North America.  Studio staff and students often  perform for  nursing homes, fund raisers, educational events, and downtown Portland celebrations.

Studio Policies and Fees

It is our desire to make the studio a welcoming, fun, and convenient place for ballroom dancing. While we understand the nature of changing schedules, we are a business, and as such need to have a few guidelines for make-up classes and credit vouchers issued.

All monthly group classes are $40/person. Private lessons are $60/couple for 55 minutes.  We offer a special 5 one-hour session package for $250 for first time private lesson students.  New classes meet weekly for 4 weeks. If a class does not run due to insufficient enrollment, you will be refunded your money, or you may transfer the payment to another class. If you miss classes after the first session, the general guidelines for all classes will apply. Specialty classes and monthly ongoing classes are for either four or five weeks, depending on the month. The cost is the same ($40 per person) whether it is a four-week or a five-week class. The fifth week is a bonus week in certain months, and no credit will be issued if a student attends four out of five classes in the month. Students may retake a four-week beginner session one time at half-price. We decide to run classes based on pre-registration. Therefore, we do not refund money after a class has begun. If you experience scheduling problems and cannot continue in the class you signed up for, we can transfer the credit to a class in the future. If students need to miss a class, they may make it up by attending a class at the same level at a different time. Make-up classes need to happen within one week on either side of the missed class. Credit vouchers for missed classes will only be issued in the event that the studio cancels a scheduled class that has been paid for in advance. Other circumstances for missing a class will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and credit will be issued at the discretion of studio management. Students must request a credit voucher within one week of a missed class. To use a voucher as payment for a class, students must have the voucher with them. We understand that occasional scheduling conflicts arise, but we are only able to offer monthly classes based on a commitment to attend from at least four students. Payment is for enrollment in the class for a month, not for individual evenings. If scheduling is a problem, and you are unable to commit for a full month, we invite you to attend classes as drop-in students, with a fee of $12 per class. However, drop-in students will not be counted in the four required to continue a class, and we cannot guarantee that classes without this minimum will continue.

If you have any questions feel free to call us at 773-0002, email us or schedule an appointment with management to discuss our policies.
